ATLANTA - Bourke Steele Floyd of Atlanta, 86, died November 24, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie House Floyd, and two daughters, Lisa Floyd Womack and Celia Floyd Nutt.

A native of Savannah, Bourke served in the US Army 1943-1945 with the 452 Bomb Group in Europe. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1950 and remained an avid Bulldog fan throughout his life. His college exploits as an exuberant Chi Phi are legendary and many of his early friendships have endured.

An artist, writer, humorist, fisherman, and Bulldog, Bourke moved with wife Jackie to Garden Hills neighborhood of Atlanta in 1962, reared two daughters, and attended Grace Methodist Church. He worked as advertising director at Muse's Clothing Store in downtown Atlanta.

He is survived by a sister, Frances Floyd Knight of Saddle River, NJ, a brother, Charles Rinaldo Floyd of Bluffton, SC, and three grandchildren: Caroline Nutt, Amelia Nutt, and Josiah Womack.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 26th, at 10:00 AM at the family plot in Bonaventure Cemetery.
